In government as in business, what is easily measurable tends to have a preponderant influence on the strategies that are adopted and the ways in which their impact is assessed. Such a reliance on quantitative measures can cause people to miss the consequences of shifts in emotional and social well-being.

Antidote's Emotional and Social Index is designed to tackle this problem. There are two version of the Index : One monitors the emotional culture of organisation, the other aims to provide national indicators of emotional and social well-being.
