During a working life at sea,
as a trawlerman and in the
merchant navy, Terry spent any spare time carving (though he insists never while on watch!) Whatever the truth, no time
devoted to honing such superb skills can have been wasted. 
He loves to carve wildlife, normally in walnut, lime or pear, and always in exquisite detail. 

The 'Old Boots', which are small and yet catch the eye from across a room, have become something of a trademark although no two pairs are ever the same.  Hollowed out inside, they are surprisingly light, and exert a strange fascination.
