Poetry and performances by and for survivors of the Mental Health system.

At Leeds Survivors Poetry we aim to bring out the writer in people who have suffered from any mental illness.  We are a group run by and for Survivors.  People of various degrees of experience of poetry are welcome as are people from any kind of background.  Meet other people with similar interests.

Leeds Survivors' Poetry facilitates the writing of survivors through running  workshops, endeavouring to publish works through  LSP Press  and sponsoring publishing (through the Joe Kerrane fund ), organising performances and generally creating a supportive atmosphere for the creative endeavours of survivors.

Check out the  news page for details of performances and events.

What is a Survivor?

"A survivor is a person with a current or past experience of psychiatric hospitals, recipients of ECT, tranquillisers and other medication, users of counselling and therapy services, survivors of sexual abuse, child abuse, drug and alcohol addiction, suffers of mental anguish and other survivors who have empathy with our experience"

This site is aimed to provide an interactive forum by offering you the chance to give us some  feedback on the site, or send us some of your stuff for inclusion on the poems page.  In addition we hope to keep you up to date with all the latest news concerning Leeds Survivors' Poetry.
