Right, where do I start?
I'm 25 years old and have been working in the television and film industry since leaving sixth form college five years ago. In this time I have gained experience on a variety of different shoots, all over the country and with many different cameras. I have worked on dramas, commercials, corporates and documentaries, and am fully experienced with Beta, Digi Beta, Arri SR, Aaton LTR and XTR cameras.
I love my work, and friends working in 'normal' jobs are often jealous to hear about the different (sometimes famous!) people I meet and the locations I work in. I get to see some sights that they could never dream of and some they would never want to dream of! Work has taken me to many unusual and challenging locations; from the bottom of a 500ft deep coal mine to sailing on a luxury yacht out on the Irish Sea surrounded by dolphins!
Camera assisting is very rewarding for me; I take great pride in what I work on, and build close relationships with the rest of the crew. Although I'm usually the first on the set in the morning, and last off at night; I always try to keep my sense of humour!
After leaving school, I started organising discos for the local youth clubs. I ended up buying more and more lighting equipment and dry hired it when I wasn't using it. Some of the work I did with the equipment was: concert tour dates with Mark Burgess (ex. Chameleons); an Aids Awareness concert in London; a live New Years Eve concert broadcast for MTV Asia which was watched by 250 million people and corporate productions including Texaco and Marks & Spencers. I still own some lighting equipment, but most of it has now been sold or is currently up for sale. Although it was successful, I didn't have time to run it once work in television/film had begun to snowball for me. I now own an ever-expanding range of camera equipment, from filters to tripods, the list is continually growing - call me for details if any equipment you need is not listed!
When I'm not working, I enjoy computers, off roading in my Land Rover (usually in the Lake District) or simply enjoying a drink in a bar with friends. Sports I regularly participate in are cycling, squash and badminton.
My favourite drink is Pernod, which I regularly travel across the English Channel to France to bring back for myself tax-free! As far as food goes, I'm a (semi!!!) vegetarian who virtually survives on pasta and pizzas; well, anything Italian!
I consider myself to have a wide taste in music, and listen to many different types.Current compact discs living in my player are: Levellers (Levelling The Land), Ocean Colour Scene (Marchin' Already), Bon Jovi (Crossroads), The Coors (Forgiven Not Forgotten), Friends (Soundtrack) and Oasis (Definitely Maybe).
Favourite films include 'Restless Natives' (which has a brilliant soundtrack by Big Country), 'Life Of Brian' (He's not the Messiah, he's a very naughty boy!), and 'Aladdin' and 'Toy Story' by Walt Disney (I'm just a big kid at heart!)
I currently live at home in Middleton with parents (one day I'll convince them they're grown up enough to move out now!), and have one younger sister.
