OFFA asks employed workers to make a small regular payment to the fund through voluntary deduction from wages, bankers order or personal collection. Many workers in the county are already supporting the Centre in this way and unemployed people and pensioners also contribute.
The needs of centres like MUWC are greater than ever before. Unemployment continues to devastate the lives of individuals, their families and whole communities. The money contributed is used to maintain the services MUWC provides to both employed and unemployed workers, trade unions and the community. Every penny raised by OFFA goes towards the work of the Centre to support the fight against unemployment, which directly affects the wages and conditions of those in work. In this uncertain climate, unemployment can strike anyone at any time. No one knows when they might need what the Centre can offer.
Every unemployed worker is a talent wasted, a valuable resource unused. Government statistics show 1.5m people unemployed but the real figure is closer to 4m. Unemployed workers were once your colleagues but now find themselves cut off from normal life. Notts OFFA recognises that the battle against unemployment is the responsibility of all workers. Your contribution today could be needed to help you tomorrow!
OFFA is accountable to its contributors and to
the trade union movement. As a contributor, you will have a real say in
how the money is used.
