Management and Co-op
The Management committee
This is the group of women that support the workers to run the house, and makes decisions on house
issues and employment. The MC meets every six weeks and the women take on other tasks that support the
house, as they are able. Before becoming a Management Committee member, you will usually be expected to
attend threee consecutive meetings, and demonstrate your committment by taking on a project or doing
some house-sitting. If you would like to know more, ask a worker when the next meeting is.
The Co-op
The house is owned and run as a co-operative. Co-op members are ultimately responsible for the house.
They are women who have been previously involved as workers at the house, or in some other capacity i.e.
Management Committee members. There is an Annual General Meeting at which Co-op members can be kept
up-to-date about the house and make any major decisions or policy changes. This is also the time when
women can apply to join the Co-op. Successful applicants pay £1 to become a member
