Autumn in Taiwan

In November 2006, I went on a work trip to Taiwan but had time to look round Taipei, visit temples, eat a snake and visit Lukang.

26 November - 2 December 2006

Snake Alley

Snake Alley is a covered market in Taipei in which there are various restaurants, some selling snakes as this man was keen to advertise

I nervously said hello to the snake...

...before trying rice and bits served in bamboo and cobra in barbecue sauce,

but I drew the line at the bottles of snake penises.

Longshan Temple

Near to Snake Alley is Longshan Temple:

Other shots in Taipei

It was the name of the restaurant that tempted me to take this photo. In case you can't read it, the place is called the "Small Fragrant Sheep Health Pot"

There is even a statue of a camera

I'm such a rebel

Lukang

During one of the work visits, we stopped off to look around the markets and temples in Lukang:

This really was the PA system in one of the temples

And I did do some work

This was Christa Chao, who had the unenviable job of looking after all the journalists, and she did it very well too

One company decided my name was actually "Steve Electronics"

Me and the other journalists at some of the factories we visited
