Langkawi, Malaysia - page three of three
25 June to 4 July 2013
Tracey and I revisited Langkawi, a holiday island off the coast of Malaysia.
Island Hopping Tour
After a morning swimming on Sunday 30th June 2013 in the sea and lunch at the English Tea Rooms, we went on the island hopping tour that had been postponed from Friday. We were driven by minibus to a small dock.
We then went by boat to Pulau Dayang Bunting. Before we docked, the boat stopped so we could see the skyline that is meant to look like a pregnant woman lying on her back.
We docked on Pulau Dayang Bunting. This is the second largest of the 99 islands that make up Langkawi. From the jetty, we walked up a stepped path and then down to a fresh water lake – Tasik Dayang Bunting, or the Lake of the Pregnant Maiden. Swimming in it is meant to increase your chance of getting pregnant. Hopefully this is just a myth as Tracey and I both had a dip.
We didn’t actually dock at the second island – Pulau Singa Besar – just moored of the coast watching the eagles swoop in the sea to catch fish.
The third island was Pulau Beras Basah, and here we stayed an hour swimming in a very calm sea before heading back. While swimming, a monkey grabbed Tracey’s camera from her bag. I chased it and it dropped it, so we got it back.
Here ia an article I wrote about the island hopping tour.
Here are general pictures from the holiday.
